World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition
The design is based on symmetry, simplicity and elegance. Important are form, color, and lighting. The site is divided into 3 modules.
The 1st module is a coliseum situated at the foot of the North Tower. Built on granite and marble, it is partially covered by the structure above. It is a recreational space where people can relax and practice sports in summer and skate in winter. The configuration has a stage with a niche where the names of the victims are etched in marble, and lit by an eternal flame.
The 2nd module is a temple type shape, built on columns, a pediment and
a glass frame. The space is multi-use, including religious services. The space could be open or enclosed in glass maintaining the view.
The 3rd module is a dome built on concrete, steel, and glass and placed at the foot of the South Tower. The first and lower levels have indoor coffeshops, newsstands and a gathering space, with views to the waterfall.
